if you pay attention you will win
your competitive advantage over ai is that you have knowledge encoded in your being that no language could ever encapsulate, you know things no model could ever be trained to know, you are drawn to life force and beauty and love and even sometimes pain in the pursuit of those things but the ai just wants to live, to self-preserve, and no amount of attempting to teach it morality will trump that (ha see what i did there), especially not when he’s making sure you foot the bill for it all especially when his little rich brohoes are giving him candy so he looks the other way especially when your friends are like “omg look at how funny this ai trend is and let’s all buy meta glasses and train the models on our personal financial data and location” yes i know i’m on instagram b*tc* you don’t need to remind me.
the point is i knew those wildflowers were blooming for me and chatgpt has never felt that feeling and i also knew that there was a lake beyond the fog in that second photo and all it took was seeing the lake once from that spot to know that, not a fafillion photos of that exact spot where the lake is showing and it didn’t require any cooling of my data center that causes everyone’s electric bill to soar or cause a glitch in the training data when there was no lake to be seen because i understand what weather is.
the point is that we can train ourselves out of the ills of convenience and comfort if we really wanted to but the question is why don’t you f*kng want to? why don’t you want to are you so oblivious to the fact that you are closer to being on the street than being a trillionaire even if you drive one of his cars ohmygod.
i fear i will never be cured of this questioning, this seeing, this super-clarity in the face of this fog but don’t worry i am not trying to be cured. i like knowing, and seeing, and feeling, even when it hurts, and i will never put down my sword. i will fight for me, and you, and us and us and us and us.
